When you're running a mid-week rehearsal, cueing the band, or leading during a Sunday service, your chord charts and setlists need to just work. There is no time to fight clunky interfaces, squint at harsh white screens in a dim auditorium, or struggle with awkward key transpositions seconds before the downbeat.
Over the past few months, we went back to the drawing board for Team Chords. While the original release got your rehearsals organized, we wanted to build something faster, cleaner, and built specifically for the realities of live performance.
Here is a preview of the major upgrade rolling out this week.
A Stage-Ready Interface with Native Dark Mode
We completely overhauled the workspace with musicians in mind:
Stage-Optimized Dark Mode: Designed using rich, glare-free slate tones that blend into dim auditoriums and stage lighting—keeping your chord charts readable without blinding you or your team.
Single-Tap Key & Capo Selection: Forget tedious dropdown menus. Shifting a song’s key or setting a capo fret now happens with instant, single-tap pill selectors directly in the setlist builder.
Frictionless Song Picking: Search your library and see artist and original key references at a glance, making it effortless to map out dynamic song transitions.
Rebuilt Core: React Native & The Road to Tablets
Under the hood, we migrated the entire dashboard to a modern React Native TypeScript architecture.
For bands and worship teams, this is a massive milestone:
- Snappier Navigation: Cleaner code contracts mean faster transitions between songs and setlists with zero lag.
- The Foundation for iPadOS & Mobile: The music stand belongs to tablets and phones. Rebuilding on React Native sets the stage for our upcoming native iPadOS, iOS, and Android apps in Phase 2—bringing full touch-optimized charts and offline resilience straight to stage stands.
Pristine Paper Setlists & Dedicated Shared Links
While digital charts rule the rehearsal, we know acoustic guitarists, drummers, and traditional vocal teams often rely on physical printouts. We refused to compromise the paper experience.
Public and shared setlist links now live on their own dedicated, high-speed viewer engineered specifically for print. When someone opens a shared link on their phone or hits Print, they get the clean, tactile, paper-style layout with perfect page breaks and zero app clutter—no sign-ins or downloads required.
